*Director of Finance*
*Summary:*
The Director for Finance is responsible for the College's long-term financial health and growth, establishing strategies that will increase revenues, overseeing accounting operations, producing accurate reports, and improving current practices to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
The position pays between $90,000 and $125,000 per year, depending upon experience and other qualifications.
Dixie Technical College is a rapidly growing public higher education institution whose modern campus is located in St.
George, Utah.
The College has 26 Council on Occupational Education accredited programs that offer certifications in high-demand, high-pay professions.
*Benefits:* * Medical and dental coverage, with the College paying the costs of the medical plan and most of the costs of the dental plan * Employer contributions to Health Savings Account ($1,500 per year for single coverage, $3,000 for double coverage, and $4,500 for three or more) without a match requirement * Employer contributions to 403(b) account, amounting to 20.
4% of the employee's pay without a match requirement.
Employees may make additional contributions.
* Salaried employees do not pay Social Security taxes * Employer-provided life insurance, AD&D, and LTD at no cost * Paid holidays, as well as Christmas, Fall, Thanksgiving, and Spring Breaks, closely align with the schedule of the local school district * 15 days of paid vacation per year and 12 days of sick leave *Required Duties and Responsibilities:* In conjunction with the College's Vice President of Administrative Services and Controller: * Establish yearly proposed budget * Develop and publish reports for campus administrators, board of trustees, USHE administrators, analysts, auditors, and other stakeholders on a State and Federal level.
* Organize the financial system to enable executives, managers, and employees to analyze in real-time income, costs and trends by program or department and for the college as a whole.
* Oversee accounting, payroll, purchasing and payables functions.
* Analyzes and controls accounts and operations to assure fiscal transactions follow proper accounting procedures, applicable laws and regulations.
* Installs appropriate general accounting systems and controls for a wide variety of accounts, in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and with sound accounting practices.
* Coordinates the analysis of financial systems, resolves system problems and implements changes; may conduct analysis of complex financial systems and recommend improvements.
* Monitors accounts to identify problems of expenditures or obligations; determines most suitable accounting procedures for particular accounts; writes guidelines for such accounts; resolves associated problems.
* Supervises the establishment and maintenance of accounting records to assure accuracy and control of expenditures.
* Prepares and assesses revenue, expense, payroll and journal entries, and other accounting documents.
* Analyzes assets to assure they are properly valued and recorded, in accordance with sound accounting practice and standards.
* Audits contracts, orders and vouchers and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions.
* Analyzes and forecasts revenue and expenditure trends.
* Develop and maintain strong internal controls including separation of duties * Provide training to other departments on financial processes * Manage cash and credit accounts, perform analyses, and reconciliations * Maintain and develop written procedures for all aspects of the Finance Department.
* Prepare for and manage annual State financial audit, as well other audits * Monitor spending, ensure that departments do not exceed budgets.
* Automate processes in the Finance Department.
* Establish and monitor student tuition and fees in accordance with Dixie Tech and USHE policy * Present information to board of directors, analysts, auditors and others as needed * Create financial statements as needed including budget vs.
actual, year to year comparisons, etc.
* Work with individual departments and programs to establish budgeting priorities and needs * Work closely with the Student Services department to implement and maintain controls over receiving, receipt of funds through the cashiers, organization of financial data in the SIS, and administration of financial aid and scholarships.
Be a positive force in improving these processes.
* Comply with Dixie Tech policies and procedures.
* Other duties as assigned *Requirements and Qualifications:* * Master's degree in Accounting or Business Administration required * CPA License required * 5+ years of accounting experience required * Higher Education accounting experience preferred * May require standing and walking, and the ability to intermittently kneel down, stoop, bend at the waist, twist at the waist and reach, or sit for long periods of time.
Must be able to read, write, and communicate clearly; have good vision to read print and a computer screen; have manual dexterity of hands and fingers to include repetitive keyboarding, grasping, and reaching to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and/or standard office equipment; have ability to lift up to 20 lbs.

); have the ability to operate standard office equipment (copier, fax, printers, multi-line phone systems); and have the ability to hear and speak to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone.
